You are here to enjoy yourself, relax and soak up nature. Unfortunately, there are some rules that need to be abided by:
1. Chasing and scaring of animals is not allowed.
2. No pets allowed
3. Geese / chickens sitting on nests may not be disturbed. They will attack if you come closer than 2 meters.
4. Please do not take chicken eggs from the nests without the supervision of Kenny, the farmworker. Many chickens are breeding and Kenny knows which chickens have been sitting on eggs.
5. Do not provoke or tease the animals – they are all tame and have placid natures - we cannot and will not be held accountable for injury caused by animals. They have never harmed or injured anyone and have never been provoked before, but will get aggressive if teased.
6. No littering – please do not let any papers / plastic lie around as the animals roam free and they eat the papers/plastic. This would cause them to choke and they will die. We take great offence. to people who disrespect our attempts to keep the farm clean, by littering.
7. If the animals bother you and you don’t want them around you, feel free to call the main house on 083 2288 661/0 to have them taken to a pen for the duration of your stay.
8. Breaking of bottles / glass is not allowed – Especially not next to the pool or dam. Please refrain from using glass containers/products to avoid accidents. The ostiches eat broken glass and will bleed internally. STRICTLY NO GLASS ITEMS ALLOWED AROUND THE POOL AREA – your entire party will be asked to vacate the premises if found breaking this rule, without being refunded.
9. Keep the dustbin lids closed at all times – to reduce the presence of flies.
10. Please do not move any furniture around.
11. No cars/ vehicles to be parked or ridden on the lawn.
12. Do not leave any crockery/cutlery outside over-night – the animals eats and / or destroys EVERYTHING.
13. Do not leave any valuables lying around, eg. cell phones, cameras, watches etc. - ostriches likes anything shiny and the other animals may destroy it as they are very inquisitive.
14. Please do not leave children unattended whilst swimming / foofy sliding– especially in the dam – even if they can swim. The water is murky and prevention is better than cure. If you doubt your child’s swimming capabilities, bring armbands along.
15. Please ensure that all household contents are left behind as per the specified list as you are responsible for the items in the house. The replacement value of all items lost/missing/broken will be recovered from your deposit.
16. Do not leave fires unattended at any given time. Damages caused by fires to the farm or neighboring farms will be for your own account.
17. General Farm rule: if you get to a gate and the gate is open, leave it open. If you get to a gate that’s closed, CLOSE it behind you as there is a reason why it’s closed.
18. Your stay is at own risk and the owners do not take any responsibility for any loss / damage / injury, that may occur during your stay, whether self-inflicted or caused by nature.
19. Music and noise is not a problem, but if other guests ask you to turn it down, please respect their preferences by doing so without taking offence.
We have tried our utmost to keep the general living area thorn-free. If you pick up thorns beneath your shoes or be unfortunate to step in one, please throw it in a fire place or the bin.
